American Football

American football is a team sport played primarily in the United States, characterized by two teams competing to advance an oval ball towards the opposing team’s end zone to score points. Each team is made up of 11 players on the field at one time. The game is played on a rectangular field with end zones at each end.

The objective is to score touchdowns worth six points by carrying the ball into the opponent’s end zone or catching it there. After scoring a touchdown, teams can attempt an extra point or a two-point conversion. Field goals, worth three points, can also be scored by kicking the ball through the opponent’s goalposts.

The game is divided into four quarters, and teams can advance the ball by running with it or passing it. The defense aims to stop the offense by tackling players or intercepting the ball. American football is known for its strategic complexity, physical play, and significant athleticism, and it has a strong cultural presence in American society, particularly exemplified by the Super Bowl, the championship game of the National Football League (NFL).
